We are seeking a number of highly skilled DevOps Systems Engineer with expertise in developing, testing, and implementing IT solutions for development test rigs, VMware VDI and virtual machine solutions, and containerised software applications. The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of infrastructure hardware, administration functions in a virtualised environment, orchestration tools, file systems and storage management and server operating system administration. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring technical solutions are compliant with contractual requirement as well as creating, maintaining, and controlling design documentation in accordance with company processes.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and test IT solutions for development test rigs
- Design and implement VMware VDI solutions
- Create and optimise VMware virtual machine solutions
- Manage virtual resources, resilience (HA & DRS), clustering, and performance monitoring
- Utilise orchestration tools for automation and scripting
- Manage file systems and storage, including migration, snapshots, and allocation
- Administer server operating systems for both Windows and Linux platforms
- Manage containerised software applications
- Respond to technical queries, perform troubleshooting investigations, conduct root cause analysis, and develop rectification plans
- Work effectively in an Agile engineering development environment
Essential Skills:
- Comprehensive understanding of IT systems in the defense, maritime, or related domains
- Knowledge of the complete engineering lifecycle with experience operating in various phases
- Proficiency in scripting languages, ideally Python and PowerShell
- Experience with infrastructure hardware (physical rack-mounted equipment)
- Expertise in administration functions within a virtualised environment
