LUNIQ is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable DevOps Linux Systems Engineer to join a state of the art defence project. This position requires expertise in Linux CentOS / Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration, configuration management, and patching. The ideal candidate will be proficient in developing and testing IT solutions, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) solutions, and virtual machine solutions. Experience with VMWare, vSphere, software development, and infrastructure hardware is essential. The candidate will also be expected to have a strong understanding of orchestration tools, file systems and storage management, containerised software applications and HCI. You must hold a current UK security clearance to be considered for this role.

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance, control, and monitoring of Linux CentOS / Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) environments.
  • Developing and testing virtual machine development environment solutions
  • Ensuring patching and security compliance of Linux systems.
  • Addressing technical queries, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and creating rectification plans.
  • Adherence to Agile methodology, and participation in project Lifecycle Management activities.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency with Linux CentOS / Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration and configuration management.
  • Familiarity with VMware, vSphere, and infrastructure hardware.
  • Proficient in using orchestration tools such as Ansible, Python, and Powershell.
  • Experience with file systems and storage management (migration, snapshots, allocation).
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and experience responding to technical queries and troubleshooting.

Advantageous Skills:

  • Experience with C#, Zabbix, and Bamboo software.
  • Knowledge in the management of containerised software applications.
  • Familiarity with HCI (human-computer interfaces).
  • Experience working in a defence, maritime, or closely linked domain.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2-3 years’ experience as a DevOps Linux Systems Engineer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the engineering lifecycle and experience operating in various phases.
  • Knowledge of IT systems in the defence, maritime or closely linked domain is highly desirable.
